Those look like Hass avocados… where’s the native Florida ones!? 😉
Those ARE local Florida avo’s! They have smooth green skin and are a bit bigger than your fist. I can find out the name of the variety if you want. Sorry for the poor picture quality. Maybe that’s what threw you off. Was taken with an ancient cell phone camera.
Thanks Marian — The avocados growing in South Fla. (Homestead) that I’M used to are twice as large as the California ‘Hass’ variety. And you pics look like Hass to me 😉

There’s about 100 varieties of avocados in commercial production in South Florida, varying from gigantic to pretty small – from football-shaped to pear-shaped, form light green and shiny smooth to dark green and very bumpy, to burgundy, to black – just about anything you can imagine…and the textures and flavors vary as well-that’s what makes them so interesting!
